Vasculitis
摘要
Vasculitis is inflammation of vessels. It can affect a single or multi-organs and thus can present as a systemic disease. The usual presentation varies demographically and organically depending upon the type of vasculitis, and hence, vasculitis has a variety of presentations. In this chapter, we have discussed the classification nomenclature along with the variety of systemic symptoms it presents with. As vasculitis presents with a variety of symptoms and sometimes has an overlapping disease along with it, it is often difficult to comprehend and investigate the disease. Like many systemic diseases, the basic autoimmune process guides the investigation pattern and the organ involved. Usually, it is investigated like an autoimmune disorder with chronic infections being the closest differential like tuberculosis or AIDS and other differentials include malignancy. The treatment is immunosuppression, synthetic or biological, and the disease can go into remission with it. This chapter also includes the complications of the disease and highlights the outcome and prognosis.
