The aim of this section is to present the concept of translation turn as a milestone in translation and interpreting studies. Related concepts (paradigm, meme and fashion) are also discussed. The rationale behind the emergence of a generative artificial intelligence turn in translation and interpreting studies is argued. This turn follows the technological one, but its scope and character make it an independent shift in translation and interpreting theory.
