This essay offers a critical examination of the literary writings of Raymond Tallis. Though Tallis is primarily known as a writer of philosophical and scientific works, his oeuvre encompasses a wide range of literary writings: poems, short stories, novels, and works that qualify best as a mixed genre of autobiographical reminiscences hand philosophical reflection. In this essay, I explore how the literary writings of Tallis are intimately linked with Tallis’s non-fiction writings, and how the topics of freedom, wonder, and consciousness consistently reappear as the principle concern of Tallis’s inquiring mind.
