With the aim of identifying whether local government bodies have integrated digital transformation procedures into their practices, as well as understanding their contributions, a literature review was carried out on research into digital transformation and local government. This review made it possible to identify that these bodies have been integrating procedures related to digital transformation, although still at an embryonic stage. The literature review also allowed us to recognize a set of contributions of digital transformation to local government bodies and to the well-being of local communities in multiple and varied aspects. Among these, within the scope of the digital urban development strategy (smart cities), in compliance with the SDGs of the United Nations 2030 Agenda, in collaborative work between organizations and in the implementation of support mechanisms for the elderly.
