摘要

Corruption, as well as other illicit financial flows, cost countries a lot of money, raising the question of what role technologies, particularly emerging technologies, can play in combating this corruption. In this sense, the present study aims to carry out a narrative literature review about the relevance that emerging technologies could play in combating corruption in the public sector. We trying to answer the research question: “is there evidence that emerging technologies have an impact on the fight against corruption in the public sector?”. The analysis of works allows us to think that some emerging technologies (e.g. artificial intelligence, blockchain, cloud computing, machine learning, etc.), as they are less dependent on human-machine interaction, could give a new boost to anti-corruption fight. The analysis of works also allow us to concluding that emerging technologies could play a decisive role in reducing corruption. However, some studies also warn of the emergence of new forms of corruption because of the use of emerging technologies.
