Parents are adapting various effective mediation strategies due to the extensive use of digital devices among children, which has created issues regarding screen time dependency. AI and its integration with parenting strategies with features such as content filtering, behavior-monitoring algorithms, and automated parental control help to keep a track children's digital activity. Despite extensive research on parental mediation, very little has been understood about the working of AI in regard to parental mediation in India's family-oriented cultural environment. The present research will identify the use and role of AI in mediating screen time addiction among Indian families. The present research uses qualitative, phenomenological orientation to explore lived experiences of parents using AI-based interventions for managing children & screen time in day to day lives. This study employs in-depth, semi-structured interviews with 10 parents whose children are aged between 5 and 16 years. It will evaluate the extent to which AI tools support Indian parents in controlling children's screen time and minimizing digital addiction. This study highlights the role of AI within the overall debate on digital parenting, by pointing that there must be a balanced course: wherein AI is considered more of an assistor than substitute for parental digital regulation.

摘要
