Introduction to Philosophy, Ecoculture, and Political Ecology for Living with Nature in the Anthropobscene
摘要
The AnthropobsceneAnthropobscene, the is defined as the laying bare of industrial products and wastes in the land, air, waterwater, and the bodies of living beings; the heating up of land, air, and water in the new, disrupted (and disruptive) arrangement of the four elements and the four seasons in nature everywhere; and the impacts on them that were supposed to remain hidden, out of sight, and out of mind. This laying bare entails environmental, biological, mental, spiritual, cultural, and social effects and consequences in and for all living beings and their/our earthly home of “the vicious exploitative actions of corporations, governments and other agencies” in the hyper-industrial, computational, and psychogeopathological capitalism of today. Naturenature is defined as the processes and places of land, air, and water, their plants and animals (including humans), the provision of life-giving air and energy, the temporal rhythms of the day and the seasons, and the aerial vagaries of the weather and climate. Industrial wastes have changed climates, disrupted seasonal cycles, and exacerbated weather extremes producing mega-fires and -floods, destructive droughts and storms, and the hottest day, month or year on record. This introductory chapter also defines philosophy and ecoculture, discusses political ecology, and outlines the chapters that follow.
