Supporting Motor Skill Rehabilitation in Autism Spectrum Disorder Through an Augmented Reality Piano Exergame
摘要
Augmented Reality (AR) merges real-world environments with digital elements, creating interactive, multisensory experiences that can be especially valuable in therapeutic sessions for individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This paper presents an AR exergame, Piano, designed to support rehabilitation activities for persons with ASD. The game employs gesture-based interaction through the Magic Leap 2 headset, offering a simplified, calming environment that promotes fine motor coordination, attention, and eye-hand synchronization. Through iterative design and evaluation involving User Experience experts and an occupational therapist, the Piano game was refined to balance therapeutic goals with engaging gameplay.
