Approach to Knee Injuries
摘要
Nowadays, the knee joint is one of the joints most exposed to injuries due to the increase in sports activities, increased social mobility, and its complex structure that is open to trauma. Because of this complex structure, taking a detailed history and performing a good physical examination are very valuable in assessing knee injuries. The mechanism of injury will often give an idea of the severity of the injury. The diagnosis can then be clarified by using direct radiography, computed tomography (CT), and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) if necessary. There is a wide range of treatment options for knee injuries, from conservative management to advanced arthroscopic procedures. This section covers distal femur fractures, proximal tibia fractures, patellar and extensor mechanism injuries, meniscal and ligament injuries, and knee joint (femorotibial) dislocations.
