Polyurethane (PU) coatings are extensively applied across numerous industrial sectors due to their superior mechanical properties, chemical resistance, flexibility, and aesthetics. Their versatility has made them a preferred choice for protective and decorative coatings in automotive, aerospace, construction, marine, furniture, electronics, and other emerging industries shown in Fig. 5.1 [1]. Polyurethane’s qualities can vary greatly, ranging from rock-hard, unyielding construction material to soft-touch coatings. The simplicity of customization and these mechanical, chemical, and biological qualities have generated a great deal of interest among the interested parties as well as the scientific community and industry as well. The material can be improved by adding various additives and nanomaterials, as well as by modifying the raw elements. Therefore, a polyurethane that is practically appropriate for every application can be produced by making the right changes to the basic material [2]. The following is the detail of the industrial applications of PU coatings, to discuss their functional roles, advantages, challenges, and innovations tailored for each sector.

摘要
