Relational Statesmanship: Leadership Reimagined from Corporate Suites to Political Streets
摘要
Amid rising false narratives, propaganda, ecological precarity, and the unraveling of global alliances, legacy models of leadership—rooted in control and positional authority—have lost their relevance. In Modern Transformational Leadership, this chapter reimagines leadership for a disrupted era: one where relational power and political skill emerge as the twin engines of strategic influence. Across fractured landscapes—from corporate boardrooms to transnational political movements—leaders must now navigate plural systems of legitimacy, build trust across polarized divides, and engage in dynamic, values-driven collaboration. Political skill, as reframed here, is not mere tactical maneuvering; it is the capacity to read context, mobilize coalitions, and shape institutional outcomes through emotional intelligence and relational acuity. This chapter traces how transformational leadership manifests not only in executive strategy, but also in activist networks, community organizing, and intercultural negotiation—where influence is exercised through belonging, alignment, and persuasive resonance. Grounded in a multidisciplinary science–practitioner framework, it draws from cross-cultural organizational behavior, leadership studies, political science, organizational theory, and narrative analysis to illuminate inclusive, ethically attuned pathways for leadership. Through case studies and cross-cultural insights, the chapter reveals influence as co-creation rather than command. It calls for leaders who are systemically literate, strategically fluent, and relationally empowered—capable of advancing justice, innovation, and institutional renewal across both the micro-dynamics of organizational life and the vast terrain of global transformation. By contrasting divergent contemporary approaches to leadership, such as Donald Trump’s assertive style and Emmanuel Macron’s emphasis on respect, the chapter highlights Adebowale Akande’s Omoluabi Universal Model as a framework for grounding transformational leadership in integrity, political skill, and communal responsibility.
