Bridging the Digital Gender Gap: Women’s Empowerment, Inclusive Governance and ESG Performance in Made in Italy Firms
摘要
This study investigates how gender inclusion drives innovation and sustainability in Made in Italy companies. Aligned with Sustainable Development Goal 5 of the 2030 Agenda, it examines the role of digital technologies in empowering women and narrowing the Digital Gender Gap. Through an interdisciplinary framework that integrates conceptual analysis with empirical evaluation of ESG performance in Italian companies, the research underscores the strategic impact of female representation in corporate governance. Results demonstrate a positive relationship between board gender diversity and ESG scores, particularly among firms engaging in sustainability reporting and CSR practices. The findings offer actionable insights for organisations aiming to enhance digital inclusion and strengthen governance structures. By positioning inclusive leadership as a lever for competitiveness, the study contributes to the broader discourse on sustainable development and gender equity, offering a nuanced perspective on the transformation of traditional companies in the digital age.
