Though hardly a new concept, workplace violence is an issue that has traditionally been viewed through the lens of organizational practices and in extreme cases the law. However, now more than ever, there is an ever-increasing understanding that workplace violence must also be viewed through a broader perspective—one that examines the issue through the lens of public health policy. In the coming pages, we will argue that public health policy must be at the forefront of reshaping how we think about workplace violence. No longer can we think of workplace violence as simply an organizational or legal matter, but rather an issue that is nothing short of a pressing public health concern. To that end, this chapter endeavors to challenge conventional assumptions about workplace violence and offers perspectives, frameworks, and tools that will provide readers with a deeper understanding of how workplace violence and public policy must intersect to foster fair and equitable practices that place human dignity at the forefront.

摘要
