Accelerated global drive for greener vehicles drives rapid development of EV charging systems while emphasis is placed on renewable energy deployment and smart charging systems. This review presents a holistic overview of state-of-the-art literature across four major aspects; (i) renewable energy utilization for electric vehicle charging, (ii) evolving charging technologies, (iii) prevailing issues such as infrastructure costs, energy efficiency and grid stability, and (iv) research gaps highlighting future directions. Solar and wind energy plays a key role in meeting the growing energy demand from EVs, while smart charging, wireless charging, and fast-changing technologies are being developed to increase overall system efficiency. In addition, despite advances in infrastructure development, the intermittency of renewable energy sources and grid stability issues still remain. This analysis underlines the need for legislative support, cross-industry research, and advanced control strategies to facilitate the widespread adoption of sustainable charging installations for EVs.

摘要
