On the training or climbing wall, the athlete climbs back and forth, initially grasping three holds of a specific color (e.g., black). After these three holds, the next three holds must be of a different color (e.g., yellow). The color changes are repeated (e.g., blue as the next color). All hold colors may be used as footholds. The exercise is continued until exhaustion (see Fig. 11.1).
