Bridging the Gap: Communicating Science to the World
摘要
To non-scientists, research and the scientific scene can be perceived as something secretive, mysterious, or incomprehensible. However, we believe that science should be recognized as an inspiring human endeavour and should be understood by everyone through effective science communication. In this chapter, we explore the transformative power of science communication. Through historical and modern examples, we reflect on how clear, engaging communication has shaped public understanding, influenced policy, and even initiated global change. But with great power comes great responsibility. We also examine the pitfalls of miscommunication and the rise of mis- and disinformation, and the delicate balance scientists must find between objectivity and advocacy. Ultimately, this chapter invites you, the scientist, to find your own voice, embrace diverse platforms, and connect with the world in your own authentic way.
