This study investigates the operational needs of EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) machine users, comparing traditional and CNC models. Using contextual inquiry, the research team conducted field observations and interviews in Taiwan’s screw mold industry to understand user pain points, workflows, and environmental challenges. Key findings highlight usability issues such as oil temperature control, machine maintenance, and workspace organization. The study reveals a disconnect between current machine design and actual operator practices. These insights offer valuable design recommendations and demonstrate the effectiveness of user-centered research methods in advancing industrial equipment development. The findings also serve as a reference for enhancing usability and productivity in future EDM machine innovation.

摘要
