The article concerns ongoing research on cultural heritage vandalism in Italy, with a view to provide guidelines for policymaker and stakeholders to mitigate the risk. To achieve this goal, the research has been based on the historical analysis of both the acts of vandalism committed since the 1960s and the good practices implemented by institutions to face the risk. Therefore, the contribution discusses the progress of research also outlining prospects for the near future.
