The last chapter is devoted to the analysis of risks coming from the global environmental crisis in different dimensions. First is the increasing probability of provoking non-linear catastrophic reactions in the environment, triggered by interactions between different phenomenon, such as warming and losses of biodiversity and carbon release from forest fires. A second area of concern is the impact of the environmental crisis on the economic value of real assets, such as houses, ports, energy and water infrastructures, among others. Natural disasters linked to climate are already affecting insurance costs and availability in some areas of the world. A third issue are the tensions between economic development and protection of the environment: they are on the rise as environmental awareness increases and the political pressures mount to pursue progress “as usual”, something happening all over the world. Finally, there is a brief discussion about the tensions arising from social changes coming from latest technologies affecting all spheres of society, combined with concerns about natural disasters and fears about the state of nature in the future.

摘要
