The paper aims to illustrate how knowledge of cultural and ethical norms contributes to the development of effective medical communication skills and how it builds trustworthy relationships with patients, but also with specialists in the field. In our university we organize conferences (Locuri și terapie—Places and therapy) and intercultural meetings (Topos—Thopos). Intercultural dialogue, diversity of students and professors, preparation for interaction with patients from different backgrounds, empathic and ethical communication, linguistic aspects in decoding medical language, etc. Some of the aspects that we are focussing on during these meetings include: intercultural dialogue, awareness of students and professors’ difference and diversity, empathic and ethnical communication, linguistic considerations in decoding medical langage.
