Patterns of ECoCs: How Emotional Experiences Are Explored, Through Culture
摘要
Emotions play a pivotal role in shaping perceptions. This research aims to explore how emotional experiences are associated with cultural events, analyzing the emotional dynamics within ECoCs. A total of 432 tourists’ reviews and 406 residents’ survey responses were analyzed, using thematic coding. Data was mapped with GIS techniques. Emotional experiences of Joy, Attachment, Positive surprise or Negative emotions were mentioned by both samples. The patterns show that connectedness within the community and with local artists, the overall programme and specific events, as well as political involvement and conflicts led to different experiences. Limited attention has been given to emotions during the ECoC year. This paper expands the knowledge on ECoCs, in a practical way, by using these spatial insights for future initiatives of stakeholders.
