Digital Logistics in Armenia: Opportunities for Regional Integration and Growth
摘要
The research explores the transformative impact of digital technologies on Armenia’s logistics sector, examining how digitalization can overcome geographical and infrastructural limitations to facilitate regional integration and economic growth. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research integrates qualitative content analysis of policy documents, academic literature, and expert interviews with quantitative assessment of logistics performance data. Key indicators are drawn from the Statistical Committee of Armenia, the World Bank Logistics Performance Index (LPI), and Eurasian Economic Commission reports. The findings of this research reveal that Armenia faces significant challenges in logistics performance, particularly in international freight transport, infrastructure quality, and cargo monitoring. However, the adoption of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and automation can enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve supply chain transparency. The research also identifies Armenia’s potential as a strategic logistics hub despite its landlocked status and limited border access. Digital logistics represents a pivotal opportunity for Armenia to modernize its transport systems, increase regional connectivity, and strengthen its role within the Eurasian Economic Union and global trade networks. The authors underscore the need for targeted investments, institutional reforms, and capacity building to fully leverage digital tools for sustainable logistics development.
