Teacher-Led Innovations with Generative AI: A Case Study of Australian Teachers
摘要
Despite great interest in the implications of generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) for education, current research is largely speculative in nature, focusing predominantly on its potential rather than providing guidance on its current affordances and uses. Unlike most cutting-edge technologies, many GenAI tools are free and broadly available, giving teachers more agency and creating opportunities for teacher-led innovation. While education systems cautiously consider the implications of GenAI in education, its availability means that many teachers are already using it. This chapter presents a case study of six Australian teachers who have actively chosen to incorporate GenAI in learning-focused activities. In addition to providing insight into how teachers use GenAI, the TPACK framework is used to elucidate the teachers’ knowledge and decision-making processes. The chapter provides clear examples of teacher-led innovations for fostering more inclusive and high-quality educational experiences using GenAI.
