The Utilization of Glass Bottle Waste as Interior Accessories Shop in a Betawi-Style Coffee Shop
摘要
Glass is a common material essential in many aspects of life. However, excessive use results in glass waste, which is detrimental to the environment due to its inorganic nature and difficulty in decomposition. Recycling can reduce this pollution, but the recycling rate for glass bottles is low due to the challenge of sorting by composition and color. This research aims to repurpose glass bottle waste into interior design elements, particularly for coffee shops, enhancing aesthetics and raising recycling awareness. Qualitative methods and design thinking will be fixed. Data collection involves direct observations at selected coffee shops and literature reviews on glass waste and its interior design applications. The design thinking process will follow three of its five steps. The study finds that waste glass bottles can be sustainably transformed into wall panels for coffee shops. It not only reduces glass waste but also creates valuable, marketable interior accessories, blending environmental benefits with commercial potential.
