The Sustainable Use of Financial Technology: The Role of Perceived Security and Privacy Among Mobile Payment Users

Sustainable use of financial technology begins with user adaptation and trust in mobile payment services. Security and privacy are needed to support the use of mobile payments. In line with the importance of sustainable use of technology, the aim of this research is to examine the support of perceived security and perceived privacy on trust and use of mobile payments. This research was carried out by processing data from respondents quantitatively. There were 211 respondents who filled out the questionnaire. Data were processed using SmartPLS in accordance with the research hypothesis design. The survey was conducted among mobile payment users in Bandung City, Indonesia. The test results show that perceived security and perceived privacy are important in supporting the e-trust of mobile payment users. The level of privacy is the main factor that increases user trust. Besides that, the impact of e-trust on the decision to use mobile payment is presented. Research findings explain the importance of security and privacy related to financial technology. The results are important information for companies providing mobile payment services when evaluating the security and privacy levels of their platforms.
