The Opportunities and Difficulties of Using Renewable Energy in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0: Indonesia’s Electricity Sector
摘要
As we go into the fourth industrial revolution, manufacturing processes need to adapt. The usage of electricity is crucial to manufacturing processes. Fossil energy, or non-renewable energy, was the source of electrical energy in the past and has been shown to harm the environment. Increasing energy efficiency is necessary to adhere to Industry 4.0’s efficiency philosophy. For manufacturing processes to remain viable in the fourth industrial revolution, energy must be transformed from fossil fuels to sustainable, renewable sources. Although Indonesia possesses abundant renewable energy resources, the country has yet to fully utilize these resources. The benefits and drawbacks of employing renewable energy in Indonesia, specifically in the electrical sector, will thus be covered in this essay. Humans have mainly depended on non-renewable energy sources to run factories and produce electricity since the Industrial Revolution. Non-renewable energy has a finite supply and contributes to atmospheric carbon dioxide emissions. The primary cause of global warming is an increase in the amount of heat-trapping carbon dioxide in the atmosphere.
