In achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the digital age, it is important to have telecommunications infrastructure to enhance network capabilities and facilitate the development of disruptive technologies that have large implications on sustainability and the potential to boost inclusivity and accessibility across sectors. Goal 11, related to sustainable cities and communities, is one of the SDGs this research has major implications for, though telecommunications infrastructure can be applied to any of the 17 goals. This is explored through qualitative interviews with OEM executives. Five themes were developed through an analysis of the interviews: agile mindset, contract challenges, customer characteristics, team challenges, and organizational influences. These results highlight issues for telecommunications OEMs to pay special attention to before attempting APM implementation. This is essential both to maintain competitiveness and to raise the standard for telecommunications infrastructures, which is a platform for achieving SDGs through increased connectivity and various applications.
