This study analyses the influence of Ecostars’ environmental certification on the Spanish hotel sector and its impact on customer satisfaction. The study examines the distribution of Ecostars certifications for 4,354 Spanish 4 and 5 star hotels and their relationship to guest comfort. The results show that the 155 certified hotels are not uniformly distributed. However, although it is observed that factors such as location and size influence the assessment of Guest comfort, no differences have been detected in relation to the Ecostar certification. These results could be valuable for strategic decision making in the Spanish hotel sector.
