The servitization of manufacturing is reshaping industrial value chains, offering novel business models that integrate products with digital services. This work explores the servitization of roll-to-roll (R2R) production within the biosensing manufacturing industry, addressing the intersection of high-throughput fabrication and service-oriented value creation. R2R production enables scalable and cost-efficient manufacturing of bio-sensors, yet its full potential remains underexplored within servitized business models. Using a mixed-methods approach, we apply Necessary Condition Analysis (NCA) to identify critical non-compensatory factors essential for successful servitization in R2R biosensing. Findings from a study of 30 European firms reveal that executive commitment, service innovation capabilities, robust digital infrastructure, deep customer understanding, ecosystem partnerships, and financial viability are indispensable for servitization success. We propose an Implementation Roadmap Framework that aligns strategic, technological, and organizational prerequisites to facilitate the transition toward service-based offerings.

摘要
