Hearing impairment does not go unnoticed in the daily lives of those affected. Regardless of the moment of acquisition, it determines what various aspects of functioning look like in health, professional, educational, private-in general: individual and social. Portraying a hearing impaired person is not a matter of course, as many important variables must be taken into account, so this chapter presents threads for understanding the topic of hearing impairment, especially in the context of young people.
