Community-Based Action Research for Climate Change of Tibetan People in Eastern Himalayas, China

After discussing the core theories and concepts of our work in Chap. 1 , this chapter focuses on the methodology of our work: community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research. For addressing climate changeClimate change, community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research is a form of adaptation aimed at reducing the risks of climate changeClimate change for the world’s poorest populations by actively involving them in adaptation practices and planning. It has emerged as a key approach to mitigating the losses and impacts of climate changeClimate change on lives, property, and health. On one hand, this chapter will conduct a literature review of community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research. This review explores the relationships between community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research and climate changeClimate change, as well as between community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research and ecosystemsEcosystem. It proposes that community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research should be integrated with scientific knowledge and traditional knowledgeTraditional knowledge to enhance its effectiveness and broader applicability in addressing climate changeClimate change. But more importantly, this chapter will provide a detailed review and study of how we have applied the community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research method to address climate changeClimate change in the TibetanTibetan communities of the Eastern HimalayasEastern Himalayas in ChinaChina. Through this self-research and reflection, we can see that community-based actionCommunity-based action research researchAction research is particularly complex, as it must address both the physical challenges and social controversies associated with climate changeClimate change, especially within local TibetanTibetan peoplesTibetan peoples. Community-based approaches have proven effective in helping TibetanTibetan peoplesTibetan peoples adapt to climate changeClimate change and are also vital for policymakers, researchers, and local peoples working in the climate changeClimate change adaptation field.
