Anesthesia for Patients with Anterior Mediastinal Mass Undergoing Interventional Pulmonary Procedures
摘要
Induction and maintenance of anesthesia in patients with mediastinal mass compressing the central airway remain a challenge for the anesthesiologist. Interventional pulmonary procedures needed to re-establish the central airway patency require the insertion of a rigid bronchoscope and general anesthesia. This chapter will describe the recommendations for airway and general anesthesia management in patients with mediastinal mass causing central airway compromise. Understanding the historic perspectives and its evolution by the current literature is essential for safe management of this patient population.
