Research on the Demand of the Elderly in the Community for Virtual Reality Sports Games
摘要
This study examines the needs of community-dwelling elderly individuals regarding Virtual Reality (VR) sports games, with a focus on boxing games. As the aging population increases, there is an urgent need for innovative solutions to support health and social interaction. Traditional physical activities often fail to engage older adults fully and adapt to their needs. VR technology offers an immersive and interactive alternative that can enhance both physical exercise and social connections. Through participatory observation and semi-structured interviews with 21 elderly participants and 5 community managers, this study identifies key factors that affect the adoption and effectiveness of VR sports games for older adults. The findings underscore the importance of user-friendly interface design, adjustable exercise intensity, and customizable social features in fostering long-term engagement. Additionally, safety concerns such as motion sickness and physical strain are addressed. The study concludes with practical design recommendations for creating VR sports games that are accessible, enjoyable, and beneficial for elderly users in community settings.
