Inerter-Based Base Isolation System for Masonry Structures: Numerical Models for Experimental Testing
摘要
This paper presents the results obtained from numerical simulations of shaking-table experimental tests on a benchmark masonry structure, base-isolated by a hybrid base isolation system. The latter combines standard base isolators with a tuned inerter damper, consisting of a grounded rack-and-pinion inerter connected in series to a set of linearly-elastic springs and a viscous dashpot in parallel. Finite element analyses implemented in SAP2000 demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed hybrid base isolation system.
