This chapter provides a detailed investigation into the problem of estimating a generalized functional \(z(t)=Fx(t)+F_dx(t-\tau )\) for a class of time-delay systems with or without a state-delayed term in the output vector. Thanks to this unified framework, we can design a wider range of observers than currently available in the literature.
