Stabilizers
摘要
This chapter examines the prevailing views on US foreign policy in the internationalist quarters of the Republican Party and the broader American conservative circles. Although less vocal than the Revolutionaries and Reformers in promoting their agenda, the Stabilizers have played an exceptional role in shaping America’s strategy in the twentieth century, especially during the Cold War and soon thereafter. The book identifies three major groups of conservative pundits and policymakers—the Legalists, Guardians, and Restorers—and examines their worldviews, framed within what can be dubbed the Stabilization Doctrine. This section assesses its potency in addressing the evolving crisis of the liberal international order.
