This chapter begins with a brief account of the origins of the conservative revolutionary movement, followed by an investigation of the core worldviews espoused by its forefathers. I then address the key tenets and guidelines of neocon foreign policy before proceeding with an examination of its conceptual novelty and practical utility. The central thesis I put forward in the present section is that, notwithstanding the persuasiveness of its ideas, neoconservatismneoconservatism is unable to serve as a practical framework for US foreign policyUnited Statesforeign policy primarily due to its innate incongruity, but also because of the so far overlooked disparity between its core ideals and America’s systemic unfitness to serve as their global promoter.
