The chapter is the introduction to the volume: ‘Perspectives and Futures of Public Administration in Italy’. This volume concludes a set of three interconnected books aimed at providing a systematic overview and critical review of public administration, public management, and public governance in Italy. This third and final volume discusses key constitutional, philosophical, and values-based themes pertaining to core foundational issues of public administration in Italy, as well as taking a forward-looking approach and reflecting on key challenges for the development of public administration in Italy, also by examining the impact of key ‘mega-trends’— from the digital and green transitions to migration processes—for public administration in Italy.
