The widespread nature of mental health challenges, combined with the advancement of artificial intelligence and the advent of large language models, inspired the authors to investigate the potential role of AI-driven chatbots in mental health care. The goal of this research is to review performance of five AI-based chatbots in tasks from the area of the mental health care. These chatbots were implemented based on the guidelines provided by their developers, extended when needed, and evaluated using the carefully designed set of questions. The paper presents results of this review as well as compares the results with state of the art within the field.
