The Impact of Climate Change on Global Food Scarcity and Distribution
摘要
Food insecurity is emerging as a critical issue, in which climate change is a significant factor that hinders food availability, access and stability across the world. Additionally, increased global temperatures, variations in rainfall, and the occurrence of extreme weather phenomena have been significant threats to effective agricultural production in many parts of the world, especially in vulnerable areas. This chapter will examine the intricate relationship between climate change and food insecurity by investigating how environmental changes impact food production, distribution, and accessibility. Other issues, such as reduced productivity and supply chain interruptions, as well as wars in certain regions, that affect these systems are also addressed, and their impacts on vulnerable groups are examined. Additionally, attention is drawn to the role of sustainable farming and food systems in mitigating these risks. Climate-smart agriculture, physical infrastructure enhancement, and social insurance are proposed as viable means of mitigating and managing the impacts of climate change. Therefore, enhancing social and technological development on an international scale will help establish a sustainable food system to meet the population’s needs in the face of future adverse climatic conditions.
