Conclusion: The Future of Global Food Value Chains
摘要
This chapter summarizes this book and examines the future of global food value chains (GVCs), exploring their essential role in the world economy while highlighting the vulnerabilities and challenges they face. Despite significant growth in production, food security remains a global crisis, compounded by inefficiencies, inadequate infrastructure, and trade barriers. This chapter emphasizes the need for innovative solutions through technology, climate-smart agriculture, and improved governance to address these challenges. It also focuses on the critical role of multinational enterprises (MNEs), smallholder farmers, and policy frameworks in shaping the future of food systems. The chapter concludes by advocating for a holistic approach to managing GVCs, balancing economic growth with social equity and environmental sustainability, to ensure resilience and food security in the face of climate change and other global threats.
