Conclusion and Future Directions
摘要
As cancer incidence rate continues to rise worldwide and treatment success improves, the demand for oncology services is accelerating. This growing demand, which already exceeds existing service capacity, underscores the need for more effective resource utilization strategies. Operations Research (OR) approaches can provide valuable support in this regard, particularly in chemotherapy services, which remain a cornerstone of cancer care across all disease stages. Given the strong shift toward outpatient delivery, optimizing patient flow in outpatient chemotherapy units (OCUs) is especially critical. Improved scheduling of OCU operations can play a decisive role in increasing utilization of OCU resources and enhancing patient satisfaction
