This Introduction discusses the creation of the first and second editions of Palestinian Activism in Israel. It firstly describes the geographic and socio-political landscape of the Naqab region located in historical Palestine, in what is now southern Israel, through both outsider and insider Bedouin perspectives. Most importantly, it introduces Amal’s and her foremothers’ motherland. Secondly, this chapter describes the co-authors’ backgrounds, their positionalities, involvement in research, and roles in the production of this book for transparency and sharing. Here, we highlight the politics and emotions of our collaboration and mutual belief in creating a second edition. Finally, issues of subjectivity and voice in biographical writing are explored along with the vernacularization of Naqab Bedouin research in the twenty-first century.
