Diagnosis and Biomarkers of CKM Syndrome
摘要
Condition determined by an intricate metabolic disruption responsible for extensive backlash against the cardiovascular and renal systems, CKM (cardiovascular-kidney-metabolic) syndrome is currently recognized as a worldwide public health threat. As a major cause for poor quality of life and reduced lifespan, the diagnosis of CKM should ensue as early as possible, since should any complications arise, they will dictate increased costs and pressure upon health providers. The advancements in molecular biology allow nowadays for deeper investigation of mechanisms shaping CKM, revealing the truly intertwined fashion the individual pathological entities frame the syndrome. Understanding of the stepwise development of CKM, along with identifying the right time and place for employing a particular diagnostic test, work in cooperation toward laying the premises for personalized therapy. The aim of this chapter is to briefly report both the conventional and the up-to-date tests employed in the evaluation of CKM syndrome.
