CCBHCs and the Revitalization of Local Community Mental Health
摘要
Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinics (CBHCs) represent our fifth pathway to whole community mental health. The treatment and support services they provide reduce distress and prevent despair in the highly vulnerable children, youth, adults, and families they serve. With a new CCBHC model comes the opportunity for community mental health centers to receive enough funding to cover the full cost of delivering care to the people they serve, most of whom have low incomes. But with greater funding comes increased responsibility for more rigorously assessing and responding to the community’s mental health and substance abuse treatment needs. Realizing the potential of the CCBHC movement offers the quality services utilized by people with the most complex behavioral health conditions; and provides a critical center for the coordination of primary, secondary, and acute care services in a Whole Community mental health system.
