Expert Roles
摘要
In the proposed schema, there are three generic roles and four specialty roles none of which are mutually exclusive. The generic roles are: self-silencing leader; bias mediator; and self-guided participant. The four specialty roles are: emergence thought champion, relatedness thought champion, wholeness thought champion, and design thought champion. All these roles are executed in a state space of time-bounded information. Emergence arises from the expected tension that undergirds the dynamic epistemic equilibrium that we seek to achieve between diversity and expertise in decision-making contexts. Relatedness is fundamental to deliberation and the practice of science. Design is the epistemic human agency needed to set the stage for practical and effective interventions whether they be public policies, programmes, projects, or institutions. It is then wholeness that brings the other three frames of thought together. Wholeness is both the outlook and due diligence required for the best application of the best available evidence, knowledge, and skills at a particular time. Indicative techniques for each frame of thought include the design abduction model to promote emergence; cognitive mapping to promote relatedness; prototyping to promote design; and systems integration to promote wholeness.
