Minor characters sometimes share the role of drawing conclusions with the usually invisible saga narrators. They are less historical than the main characters and thus closer to the actual authors. Not only are their names and characters often not revealed, they also serve to ruin the heroes' attempts at not expressing emotions. Thus their very insignificance reveals supposedly absent feelings. Furthermore the minor characters expand the narrative and make it more general and less particular.
