Damodar Valley Corporation and Qualitative Environmental Flow Alteration
摘要
This chapter is concerned with the qualitative flow alterations measured in terms of the water quality assessment for irrigation, drinking, and ecological purposes. This chapter will showcase how Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC)-induced development activities exacerbate river pollution and poor water quality. Moreover, as environmental flow is integrated at the basin scale, the alteration of the groundwater quality of the Damodar River Basin (DRB) is also undertaken. The qualitative loss of environmental flow is treated in terms of the natural and anthropogenic drivers with special reference to climate change, Land Use and Land Cover (LULC) changes, emerging contaminants, and nutrient loss due to dam construction.
