A Fusion of Force and Becoming in African and Process Metaphysics
摘要
The previous chapters have succeeded in showing how the philosophical histories of each of African and process metaphysics have struggled for relevance and audience, due primarily to the influence of classical logic and substance-based metaphysics that have taken dominant attention in philosophical history. In spite of these histories, African and process scholars, whose systems are characterized by force and becoming respectively have yet to underscore the semblances inherent in their respective doctrines. Hence, the onus of this chapter is to illustrate force and becoming—African and process metaphysics are actually two ways of doing the same thing such that to speak of the one is to talk about the other. Put otherwise, this chapter exposes how any discourse on the metaphysics of force implies the metaphysics of becoming and vice-versa. The conclusion therefore is that African and process scholars should converse or interact more since their common grounds are too enormous to be wished away.
