Process-Relational Philosophy: An Argument for Its Contemporary Relevance with Two Illustrations
摘要
The last ten chapters have succeeded in unpacking the underexplored connection between African and process metaphysics. It has also called for the need for interactions and thorough engagements among those working in the fields. In this chapter, the intention is to provide two illustrations concerning how these scholars can engage one another and also apply their findings to contemporary issues. The first centres on how the metaphysics of force and becoming can serve as a platform for a more robust and well-grounded African environmentalism. The second illustration is based on the discourse on life’s meaningfulness. Through the reformed subjectivist principle of Whitehead, the chapter offers a patient-centred idea of meaningfulness as an improved way of talking about meaning vis-à-vis the agent-centred perspective which is more dominant in the literature.
